We are hoping to get an AMTRAK station here in Shreveport/Bossier, but must show that the station will be supported. Here are some answers to some of the questions you have asked me about AMTRAK service in Shreveport/Bossier.



Currently you can catch a shuttle to Longview, TX at the El Dorado Casino parking garage and board at Longview.

When you arrive at Central Station in Dallas you can connect with the DART/TRE system there and travel Dallas/Ft Worth utilizing the DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) system.

You can take the TRE (Trinity Rail Express) to the DFW Airport terminal A.

One way tickets to Dallas are currently about $20 to ride AMTRAK.

The cost to ride the DART/TRE was less than $10.00 for an all day pass. The DART system includes light rail/bus/shuttles in the Dallas Area.



One point to make is that AMTRAK service can be delayed due to freight traffic. Plan for a delay when booking airline tickets so that time is not as crucial. Riding the train to Dallas for shopping/visits makes sense money and stress wise. Train travel is comfortable for families especially when children are involved because of the availability of bathrooms and snack bars. The observation car is also wonderful when you want to concentrate on visiting, not driving.
